Lord Jesus Christ, who knows the difficulties of this world, we often long to escape from the suffering and troubles of this life. Be with us in the struggles we face, and grant us the perseverance to endure them as we look to you, who walked steadfastly into your passion for our sakes, through you who is seated at the Father’s right hand with the Holy Spirit. Amen. “Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say–‘ Father, save me from this hour’? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour.” – John 12:27 Are you more inclined to run from troubles or face them down to defeat them? Or does it perhaps depend on the kind of trouble? Are there times that Jesus is inviting you to do neither, but instead to steadily keep walking into them and let them be what they will? What would it be like to neither escape nor defeat a trial, but sit in it with Jesus by your side?
