Courageous and humble Lord, who allowed yourself to be lifted up in the most painful of ways, grant us courage as well to trod a path of suffering and humility when you call us to it, that through struggles and difficulties, we might also help to fulfill your desire to bring all into your kingdom of love, through you who was raised to life by the Father through the Holy Spirit. Amen. ‘”And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to indicate the kind of death he was to die.’ – John 12:32-33 What has been your response in the past to suffering or shame? Have you ever found God seeming to call you into them intentionally? How willing have you been to go into such places? Does knowing that there is good on the other side make it easier? Can you walk into such things knowing that Jesus is beside you?
