Lord Almighty, God of Abraham, we thank you for the promise you made to our spiritual forefather to be our God and that you have remained faithful throughout generations and remain so today. Grant that we would be so faithful to you, that we would be your people, reflecting your nature and name to the world, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. ‘I will establish my covenant between me and you, and your offspring after you throughout their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.’ – Gen. 17:7 What is it like to be part of a chain of generations of spiritual forebears going back thousands of years? How connected do you feel to the many who have gone before you throughout history? What does it mean for your spiritual life that they had foibles and victories, had received mercy and humbled themselves just as you have and are called to now?
