Almighty God, whose greatness is beyond our understanding, keep us from demanding that you fit our expectations, but let us instead receive you however you appear, that we might not miss what you bring and ignore your presence among us, through Christ our savior, who came to us in our own flesh and ascended to you in the Holy Spirit in glory. Amen.
“For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon’; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.” – Matthew 11:18-19
