Father in Heaven, who looks down upon your creation with love, may we follow in the footsteps of your beloved son, who in humility and obedience followed a path he did not have to tread out of love for you and for us, that you would be, as you are with him, well pleased with us, and we would enter into the joy of your Trinitarian love, through Jesus Christ our example. Amen. ‘In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”‘ – Mark 1:11 Are there places that God is calling you that you are reluctant to go? Are there tasks that need doing, emotions that need exploring, ideas that need unfolding, yet you find yourself hesitant? Talk with God about where he might be inviting you and what makes you uneasy to accept. Ask him to help you discern what you need to follow in Jesus’ example.
