A Lenten Collect to Trust Jesus

Almighty Jesus, lord of heaven and earth, we struggle to trust in you when our hearts are wrapped up in the things of this world. Help us to believe in your name and your ways, that we would live according to your will and your desires and even the hard and broken parts of our hearts would be transformed into your likeness, through you who ascended to the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. ‘Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.’ – John 3:18 In what ways do you struggle to trust Jesus’ power or way of being? Do you believe in his provision fully? In his bringing about justice? In his goodness to you? Perhaps in his presence with you? Is it okay to be lacking in those places – that is, can you believe in God’s love for you even in your fallenness or brokenness? Can you invite Jesus into the places where you struggle to include him? What does he say to you in response?
