Gentle shepherd, who knows the truth of our hearts even when we do not, help us to recognize when we are too eager or do not know our own limitations, that we would not promise you things we cannot keep and so betray you in our weakness and bury ourselves in shame and guilt, through you who forgives and loves us to the end in the company of the Father and Holy Spirit. Amen. ‘As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”‘ – Luke 9:57-58
