Holy Lord, who speaks to us hard truths we need to hear, do not let us hide from what our words and our actions tell us about our hearts, but show us what we bear within, and be merciful to us and bring healing, that what proceeds from our hearts would come to be love as you have shown, through you who loved us to the end and sat down at the right hand of the Father in the power of the Spirit. Amen. ‘ Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth enters the stomach, and goes out into the sewer? But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this is what defiles.’ – Matthew 15:17-18 Are there things that God is trying to help you see in your heart? Are there things that he desires you to bring to him for forgiveness and healing? How do you feel about being honest with God and yourself about sinful things in your heart? What kind of conversation would you and Jesus have about these things?
