A Collect to Remember Jesus’ Humanity

Lord Jesus Christ, who took on our frailty to share our lives, you grew tired on the journey to Jerusalem and had to stop to rest. Let us not forget that you took on real flesh with all its limitations, that we could turn to you when our own flesh fails and discover empathy there and wisdom for how to live as souls wrapped in the stuff of earth, through you who lived with us, trusting in the love and power of the Father and Holy Spirit each moment. Amen. ‘So he came to a Samaritan city called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired out by his journey, was sitting by the well. It was about noon.’ – John 4:5-6
