A Collect to Prepare for the Lord’s Appearance

Lord of hosts, the corner of whose garments fills the whole of our world, we await your coming. Give us ears to hear your herald-messenger and the will to prepare ourselves for your coming, that we would not be caught by surprise at your appearance but would be able hosts, ready to serve you well, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who sits enthroned with you on high in the Holy Spirit. Amen. ‘See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple.
