Almighty God, who parted waters and healed the sick, let us not make demands of you in our self-centered-ness, that we would learn to trust what you are about and accept your gifts gratefully when they come, knowing that your ways are good and your thoughts higher than our own, through Christ our teacher, who gave us great wisdom and now intercedes for us before your throne in the Holy Spirit. Amen.
‘He said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘Doctor, cure yourself!’ And you will say, ‘Do here also in your hometown the things that we have heard you did at Capernaum.’” And he said, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown.”‘ – Luke 4:23-24
