A Collect to be Content with What We Can Do

Great teacher, who understands what passes in our hearts, may we be willing to give whatever we can and be not ashamed of our inability or proud of our capacity, but content to give as we are able to your work and to the good of others in your care, through you who lives and reigns in perpetual light with the Father and Holy Spirit. Amen.

‘A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”‘ – Mark 12:42-44
