A Collect in Times of Weeping

Compassionate Father, whose heart breaks for your children’s suffering, we thank you for not abandoning those who weep, but bending down to give comfort to those in need, that we might not suffer alone, but instead find that you are with us with great love, through Jesus Christ who suffered apart from you that we would not have to. Amen. ‘ But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet.’ – John 20:11-12
