Almighty God, who rules over all that is, we have sought to steal that which is yours and take it for ourselves to spend on our own pleasures. Forgive our pride, our selfish ways, and our lack of honor toward you. Give us new hearts that we would willingly relinquish what we have usurped and turn to you for mercy and love, through Jesus Christ, firstborn of all creation, who is seated at your right hand with the Holy Spirit. Are there ways that I don’t believe trusting in God’s ways will satisfy or meet my needs? What do I believe God thinks and feels about how I’ve tried to usurp things from him? If I sat with God, what would he actually tell me he thinks and feels?
