A Holy Saturday Collect

O God who is hidden and waits in silence, let us hold fast to the remembrance of your love, that even in affliction and suffering we might yet find hope and trust in your salvation, through your beloved son Jesus, who lay in the grave with the assurance that you would raise him again in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

‘The thought of my affliction and my homelessness is wormwood and gall! My soul continually thinks of it and is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end.’ – Lamentations 3:19-22
