Great high priest, who stands before the Father on our behalf, have mercy on us and help us, that in suffering we would not succumb to temptation and sin but endure as you did and so follow in your blessed way, through you who was raised to new life and lives forever with the Father and Holy Spirit in glory. ‘Therefore he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the people.
