A Collect to Escape Pride

Great teacher, who humbled yourself to take on the nature of a servant, keep us from pride and from aggrandizing ourselves, that we would learn to accept with grace and joy whatever station we are given by you and seeking your respect rather than that of the world, through you who died a criminal and was raised a king through the power of the Father and Holy Spirit. Amen.

‘As he taught, he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets!”‘ – Mark 12:38-39
